JUDGING PROFILE.
I moved to Australia in 1987 from my home country of Finland, where
I started showing dogs at 12 years of age. My first dogs were a Sheltie and a Lowchen,
both with successful careers. I also helped out with grooming and handling for some
major kennels in various breeds.
I started with my current breed, Italian
Greyhounds, in 1989 and I established the Berizza prefix in 1990. My first litter
(born in 1994) comprised of 2 Specialty BIS winners and those two became the foundation
for what we are today. Some 50 homebred Champions and 4 Grand champions later, we have
also shared breeding stock to assist others in their journey and today many top IG's have
"Berizza" behind them.
We are proud to be the record holder of 7 Breed Specialty BIS
wins (and 1 RUBIS) with 6 individual dogs. Over the past 20 years we have won numerous
BIS/RUBIS awards at All Breeds shows, Toy and Sighthound Specialties. While I am passionate
about breeding and exhibiting high quality IGs, I apply the same passion for judging other
breeds too. I have been fortunate to own and exhibit different breeds over the years,
which have given me invaluable "hands on" knowledge and great appreciation for their individual
requirements.
I acquired my Group 1 (Toys) licence in 2004 and have judged in most States of Australia at
Specialty and All Breeds level, as well as on both Islands of New Zealand, Singapore and USA.
I have successfully passed my 2nd Group (Hounds) and look forward to my future appointments
in these two fascinating Groups.
